My top 5 books (including one that made me become a makeup artist!)

Did you know that it was a book that got me into being a makeup artist in the first place? I thought I’d share my top 5 books that I read when I had time before having kids haha.

This is the one that changed the path I was on for my life! I only knew cakey, orange makeup with bad eyeliner before this. It was refreshing to see a different take on beauty - enhancing natural features rather than masking them. I started practising and then because I was in a horrible office job at the time, I signed up to a makeup course at my local college and my passion grew from there!

Everyone needs to follow Florence online and buy all of her books now! She is SO empowering, wise and uplifting and if you’re ever feeling shit about yourself, go watch a Florence video and you’ll feel totally badass again.I’m saving these for my daughters to read when they’re older.

I have become obsessed with the Dragon Ball series and this book helps me understand why I love the anime so much. Some good philosophical, life lessons are subtly dotted into it and this book explains it all.

I have always loved Gothic horror and found it quite funny when people who went to see Nosferatu and didn’t like it, totally misunderstood what Gothic Horror is about! Gothic horror aims to evoke a sense of unease, suspense, and terror and these short stories are perfect for that.

This one is very niche but have you even seen The Room? It is a film SO bad that it has a cult following. My husband is obsessed. I had to get some insight what it was like to work with the film maker and lead actor Tommy Wiseau, because he is a very strange man. If you do watch the film, just make sure you’ve got some alcohol with you to get through it.

So there you have it! I didn’t expect it to be such a mish mash of genres when I thought of writing this post, but here we are. I am a very open minded person let’s just say.

I even wrote my own book about Skincare that you can purchase if you need help with getting your skin back to it’s healthiest. Find it here.

I’d love you to comment your current book or one that has impacted you the most!
