Tools to survive lockdown
The reality of Lockdown 2.0 hit and my friends in the wedding, retail and fitness industries are of course rightly feeling down about it. While in some ways it is going to be easier with childcare services being available, being able to still go to shops and visit others, it’s still hard for people who can’t work for a month.
This one thought helped my mindset a lot:
DECIDE WHO YOU WANT TO BE IN 30 DAYS.
This one thought is going to help you so much over lockdown. People are getting called out for doing too little, doing too much and going for goals- you do you! Just own it.
If you want to use this time to recharge and chill - own it. If you want to level up in an area of your life, whether that's health, fitness, business - own it and go for it. Just decide, stop fighting against it and letting people tell you what you should or shouldn't do.
Here are the things I think you need to help you through the lockdown for either way!
IF YOU ARE USING THE TIME TO RELAX AND RECHARGE
A TV subscription.
I was going to say Netflix, but there are loads of TV shows on Amazon Prime that you can binge watch without having to use too much concentration, like The Office US, South Park or Parks and Recreation. There’s some really light hearted stuff on there which is perfect if you’re wanting to switch your mindset- I find with Netflix there’s too many documentaries about murderers and crime that will just bring your mood down. And of course there’s always Disney+ to cheer you up too.
A pamper kit
If you can, indulge in some pampering time! A nice, hot bubble bath, face mask, maybe even paint your nails.
Here are my favourite pampering products:
The Body Shop Shea Shower Cream
Arbonne Supercalm Cleansing Milk
Arbonne Rescue & Renew Detox Face Mask
Cosy Pyjamas
There’s not much to say with this one - no one wants to sit around the house in jeans if you’ve got warm, soft pyjamas to wear! I just brought this pair from Matalan, sooo comfy!
Mindfulness Groups
If you want to work on your mindfulness, joining a group of people doing the same thing is so nice to do. I jump on Zoom most mornings with my Miracle Morning crew, and we write our goals, affirmations and gratitude along with doing a guided meditation and watching a motivational video. If that sounds too much, find a group doing what suits you or get an accountability buddy to pick 1 or 2 things to do together everyday.
I’ve also downloaded the Tone It Up app and started the Toned Body Toned Mind challenge - yoga and meditation everyday. This one is so perfect for your mindset, and I love having no pressure to do a really hard, sweaty workout.
Spotify
Create your own playlist with all the songs that make you feel good, plus explore all the genres to find playlists that match your mood. Perfect!
Nutrition
Now isn’t the time to aim for super clean eating 100% of the time. Focus on nourishing your body as it does help with mental health BUT if you really fancy eating that junk food, eat it.
This drink will help with feeling calm:
Arbonne InnerCalm
Did you know that 84% of the world experiences some feelings of stress? Our de-stress powder features sustainably sourced Ashwagandha, a powerful adaptogen, along with sustainably sourced Saffron to help you achieve a balanced mindset. L-theanine, an amino acid found in tea leaves, promotes a sense of calm and relaxation without feeling drowsy. Peach green tea flavour. 30 servings.
IF YOU ARE USING THE TIME TO SMASH THOSE GOALS AND STAY POSITIVE
Exercise
A lot of personal trainers and fitness instructors will be able to carry on with their services online. If you want to support local business, stick to your local instructors! There are also plenty of online subscriptions, I have been a member of Tone It Up for years and love the variety of workouts plus the On Demand option. Fits in really well around having a baby!
Whatever you choose, exercise is very important for staying positive. It releases endorphins into your system which makes you feel good.
Time blocking
Rather than writing a to do list, create time blocks for everything in your day. Even free time! Knowing you’ve scheduled in everything keeps you focused, and therefore more productive.
Something to help you stay focused:
Arbonne Essentials Mind Health:
Multitask to the max. Sunflower seed derived phosphatidylserine, a key building block for brain cells, and vitamin B12 support neurological performance like concentration and focus. Use daily to help support brain health and cognitive performance including aspects like memory and learning. The delicious cherry lime flavoured formula has supportive ingredients like grape seed extract and CoQ10 to help maintain a healthy nervous system.
Spotify
Spotify again, but this time for Podcasts. There’s so many on there, but my favourite one at the moment is Made for More by Carly Meyers. Full of snippets of easy to listen to business/mindset advice.
Gut Health
More and more research is showing that an unhealthy gut contributes to your mental health in a negative way. Using the next 30 days to reset your gut bacteria will help to get your body functioning how it’s supposed to, leading to clearer thoughts, more energy, a happier mindset.
If you need help figuring out what foods are not serving your body, Arbonne’s 30 Days to Healthy Living is a brilliant programme to do this. You can find out more info here.
Cronometer is a good app to use to track the nutrition values of the foods you eat. This is important especially if you’re vegan - I’ve been using for 3 days and realised I’m not hitting my Iron intake so I’ve ordered some supplements to help with this.
Get dressed
Plan to wear your favourite outfits everyday and put your makeup on. The more we feel ready for the day, the better we are going to feel and get things done.
Stick to your sleep schedule
Getting enough sleep will always make us feel good and help our body and minds reset over night. Sticking to your normal sleep routine will help again with your routine in the day and sticking to those goals!
Community
Find people who are also hustling for something, whether that business, health, body, relationships - be accountable to each other and get motivated and inspired.
I hope this helps you and I’d love to hear any of your tips in the comments!
